Welcome to the
BradyCare Academy

Our innovative approach to online learning is changing the way vets learn all around the world. Our platform delivers a wide range of helpful resources and training sessions based on real-life situations.

Upcoming BradyCare Courses

At BradyCare, we believe that even the most “routine” surgeries deserve expert care — and expert training. Our upcoming courses offer a fresh, practical, and evidence-based look at common procedures. Each module is designed to increase your confidence and competence, minimise surgical stress, and help reduce peri-operative challenges and post-operative complications — including the risk of surgical site infection (SSI).
We take a clinical but compassionate approach: grounded in science, shaped by frontline realities, and always encouraging. Expect short, focused sections you can complete at your own pace, interactive learning, and step-by-step guidance that’s as clear as it is practical.

Whether you're newly qualified, returning to surgery, or already experienced — our aim is to raise standards without raising eyebrows.

Just a bitch spay?

Common doesn’t mean simple. Bitch spays are often called routine, but no two are ever quite the same. Size, age, condition, and anatomy vary widely, and so do the surgical challenges.

This course helps you gain true surgical confidence and competence, using a structured, step-by-step approach to every moment of the operation. Learn to identify key decision points, secure your ligatures with certainty, and minimise the risk of complications, from haemorrhage to post-op SSI.

Whether you’ve done ten spays or hundreds, this course provides clinical clarity, practical insight, and transferable decision-making skills for every surgery that follows.

Cat spay: flank or midline?

Feline spays are common, but “common” doesn’t mean one-size-fits-all. From flank versus midline approaches to optimal timing and handling sensitive patient groups, the decisions can be surprisingly complex.

This course breaks down each approach into short, practical, evidence-based sections, helping you build confidence in surgical technique, choice of timing, and surgery planning. We’ll help you assess each case, adapt to different contexts, and reduce peri-operative challenges and post-op complications, all while protecting surgical site integrity.

Part of the Cat Spay module, this course is designed for flexible, interactive learning, and gives you the tools to raise standards without added pressure.

Cat castration:
One size fits all?

Often considered the simplest procedure — until it's not. Should you use one incision or two? Auto-ligate or suture? Should we adjust our approach based on the individual case?

This course covers variations in approach, ligation techniques, and how to avoid issues like post-op swelling, dehiscence, or infection. You’ll gain the confidence to make smart, safe, evidence-based decisions, and the competence to apply them in any setting.

It’s all part of the Cat Castration module, delivered in engaging, interactive, short sections designed to fit your schedule and boost your skills.
Launches Q1 2026

Dog castration:
Open or closed?

Dog castration is often labelled as simple — but is it really? What are the pros and cons of opening the tunic? Is the pre-scrotal incision always the best option? How do we reduce post-op swelling and self-trauma? And what does the evidence say about infection risk, healing, and animal welfare?

This course compares global techniques, challenges assumptions, and helps you navigate surgical choices with clinical clarity. You'll learn how to adapt your technique to each patient, reduce the risk of surgical site infection (SSI), and make decisions that optimise comfort and recovery.

Part of the Dog Castration module, this course offers short, interactive lessons and step-by-step guidance to help you build the confidence and competence to perform safe, effective castrations — wherever you're working.

Responsible
antibiotic use

International guidelines state: Routine neutering no longer warrants prophylactic antibiotics, but what about TNR work or situations with no post-op monitoring?

At BradyCare, we’re working closely with the AMR team at Cornell University and have conducted the largest global survey to understand the unique challenges faced by grassroots organisations. This course unpacks the science, explores practical solutions, and supports confident, evidence-based decisions, all tailored to your context.

Equipment & facilities:
What do you really need?

From basic field setups to state-of-the-art clinics, what’s truly essential for clean, safe surgery? Do masks, hats, and gowns reduce the risk of SSI, or is a clean top and hand rub enough? Which sterility standards make the biggest difference, and where can you adapt safely?

This course helps you identify what matters most, using evidence and practicality to guide decisions. Ideal for anyone aiming to improve outcomes in resource-limited settings without overcomplicating things.

Anaesthesia:
Adapting to what you have

Gas or injectables? With or without oxygen? Intubated or mask? In some countries, ketamine isn’t available. In others, opioids are tightly controlled.

We help you adapt anaesthetic protocols to what you have, without compromising patient safety.

You’ll learn how to reduce anaesthetic risks, support smooth recoveries, and approach surgery with confidence, no matter your setting.

Analgesia:
Science, myths & realities

Pain prevention is standard in many parts of the world, yet in others, myths about pain being “helpful” still persist.

This course explores what the science says, what’s realistic in resource-limited settings, and how to manage pain effectively even when drug options are limited.

Understand the impact of good analgesia on welfare, healing, and SSI risk, and gain confidence to advocate for better pain management, wherever you work.

Surgical preparation:
Beyond scrubbing in

This module covers more than just the patient, it’s about preparing the surgeon, too. Is it better to disinfect your hands between each surgery or double glove during high-volume work? Is it okay to wear nail polish? How do different habits and hygiene measures affect SSI rates?

We explore the science behind skin prep, glove technique, and surgical discipline, helping you make informed, practical choices that reduce complications.

Part of the Bitch Spay, Cat Spay, Dog Castration, and Cat Castration modules.

Recovery &
post-operative care

From recovery position to what to do when a patient recovers too slowly, this module combines international guidelines with practical tips you can apply immediately.

What subtle signs point to post-op trouble? How can you further reduce the risk of SSI?

Designed to boost your clinical confidence and support smoother recoveries, this course empowers you to give patients the best possible outcomes, even after the last suture is placed.
